Scarecrow...

We got hay bales from our pumpkin patch field trip and set them up in our playground. We've enjoyed sitting and climbing on this natural temporary playground equipment.

Today we finally opened some of our hay bales to make our scarecrow!

Opening the hay bales...

We learned that scarecrows are made by filling old clothes with straw to look like a person and scare the crows away so they don't eat the pumpkins or other vegetables in the garden.

First we worked together to stuff the shirt...

Teacher Kathy is helping with the pants..

We had more loose hay than the scarecrow needed, so just jumping in the hay was lots of fun!

We are holding the head....

There's always room for a little more...

Over the next few days we will keep adding crows, flowers, mice etc. to our scarecrow/pumpkin patch scene. You are welcome to add things too!
